SUPPORT KOODAMKULAM PEOPLE
Koodankulam in South Tamil Nadu there nuclear reactors are to be commissioned soon. The local people in the neighbouring villages has been asked to vacate the place and stay away at their relatives place for atleast 15 days towrards the end of this month so that trial nuclear tests could be conducted in Koodamkulam. There is a strong People's Movement named Coastal People's Federation who have refused to move out of the villages and is asking a halt to the tests.
On 17th March, they protested at the Pollution Control Board when they refused to provide the draft EIA report for a public hearing scheduled on a Thermal Plant in which DMK's Kanimozhi is supposedly a share holder. Thereafter authorities cancelled public hearing. These groups are fighting a lonely battle with not much attention and support from others.
