Renowned Doctor and  Health activist Dr.C R Soman Passed away in Trivandrum on 6th November 2009 due to a massive heart attack. He was 73. He had long association with KSSP even though he is not an active worker of it. He played crucial role in formulating the health policy and Health activities of KSSP.  His latest association with KSSP was his involvement in the Health Commission appointed by KSSP, in which he was also a member. He fought gallantly against the anti people policies of the Govt and the Health industry. He has also led a lot of fruitful studies on the Health Scenario of Kerala. He founded an NGO, Viz, The Health Action by People, which rendered yeoman service in campaigning against spread  the life style diseases in Kerala. ഡോ. സി ആര്‍ സോമന്‍ വിട പറയുന്പോള്‍
കേരളത്തിന്‍റെ ജനകീയ ആരോഗ്യമേഖലയ്ക്ക് നിര്‍ണായകമായ സംഭാവനകള്‍ നല്കിയ ഡോ. സി.ആര്‍ സോമന്റെ ആകസ്മിക വിയോഗം കേരള സമൂഹത്തിന് തീരാ നഷ്ടമാണ്. ആരോഗ്യ മേഖലയിലെ ജനവിരുദ്ധ നയങ്ങള്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിക്കുന്നതിലും തുറന്നെതിര്‍ക്കുന്നതിലും ആദ്ദേഹം എന്നും മുന്നിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കേരളത്തിന്‍റെ ആരോഗ്യമേഖലയില്‍ ജനകീയ നയങ്ങള്‍ക്കു രൂപം നല്കുന്നതിനുതകുന്ന നിരവധി പഠനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും അദ്ദേഹം നേതൃത്വം നല്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഡോ. സി.ആര്‍ സോമന്‍റെ നിര്യാണത്തില്‍ കേരള ശാസ്ത്രസാഹിത്യ പരിഷത്ത് അനുശോചിച്ചു. പരിഷത്തിന്റെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളില്‍ സജീവമായി സഹകരിച്ചിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം ആരോഗ്യമേഖലയിലെ പരിഷത്ത് നയവും പരിപാടികളും രൂപപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതില്‍ വലിയ പങ്കു വഹിച്ച വ്യക്തിയായരുന്നുവെന്ന് അനുശേചനക്കുറിപ്പില്‍ പരിഷത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് ഡോ. കാവുന്പായി ബാലകൃഷ്ണനും ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി വി വിനോദും പറഞ്ഞു.
